Varian's line of columns are packed to tight specifications, so you can depend upon their reproducibility. You'll get consistent performance from one columns to the next.
Custom-made packed columns may be constructed of glass, stainless steel, or Teflon and are packed with up-to-date supports and phases. All columns are deactivated with dimethyl dichlorosilane (DMCS) and plugged at both ends with DMCS-treated glass wool.
Stainless steel columns are manufactured from specially selected tubing, and treated according to a specified cleaning method. After treatment, a standard test is performed to ascertain that every batch is suitable for GC use. The stainless steel columns are available in 1/8" and 1/4" outside diameters and lengths of up to 10 meters. The columns are supplied with brass fittings; stainless steel or specific fittings are also available.
Glass columns are available in 1/8" or 1/4" outside diameter and lengths of up to 10 m. The inside diameter of 1/8" OD columns is 2 mm and 2, 3 or 4 mm in the 1/4" OD columns. Brass nuts and graphite ferrules are included.
Teflon columns are available in 1/8" and 1/4" outside diameters, and are supplied with brass nuts and graphite ferrules except for Shimadzu models.
