Agilent Technologies HPLC Column Selection

The Agilent Zorbax HPLC column range is one if the most highly regarded and trusted HPLC column brands on the market.  Agilent Zorbax Silica columns are the only one of the main manufacturers that can offer you true scalability due to their patented silica manufacturing and ensure consistment batch-to-batch reproducibility.

Agilent HPLC Column Selection Guide

The largest portfolio of Fast LC columns with a broad range of phases across all particle sizes for exceptional flexibility and scalability. Whether you are performing conventional or ultra-fast chromatography, separating biomolecules, or analysing complex basic compounds, you can trust Agilent for the industry’s highest performing columns that deliver the fast, reproducible results you need. This selection guide is focused on Agilent's small molecule HPLC columns including; Poroshell 120– these columns provide high efficiency and high resolution separations with up to 50% less back-pressure compared to sub-2 μm columns. ZORBAX Rapid Resolution High Definition (RRHD)– these 1.8 μm particle columns feature an improved packing processes to achieve stability up to 1200 bar allowing them to be used with the Agilent 1290 Infinity and other UPLC instruments. ZORBAX Rapid Resolution HighThroughput (RRHT) columns have 1.8 μm particles and are available in 2.1, 3.0 and 4.6 mm I.Ds with 600 bar stability. Download the Agilent HPLC Column Selection Guide for more details and ordering information or alternatively, visit www.crawfordscientific.com/HPLC.htm for all HPLC columns and accessories available from Crawford Scientific.

Agilent Poroshell Columns

Poroshell 120 columns provide exceptional efficiency for standard HPLC systems and significantly boost the performance from UHPLC instruments.
These next-generation columns take the technology to the next level with Poroshell 300– giving you higher throughput and resolution for a wide range of small molecules, peptides and proteins. Their advanced features include:

  • Comparable speed and resolution to sub-2 μm columns with up to 50% less backpressure
  • Superior peak shape for faster, more accurate results
  • Long column life – Poroshell 120 columns use a standard 2 μm frit, and resist plugging with dirty samples
  • A growing family of bonded phases for method development flexibility
  • Easy method transfer and scalability to ZORBAX bonded phases
  • UHPLC guard column options that reduce your operating expenses by extending the life of Poroshell 120 columns

Download the Agilent Poroshell Columns brochure for more details.

Agilent Rapid Resolution High Definition HPLC Columns

ZORBAX RRHD columns take fast and high-resolution separations to the next
level with:

  • Infinitely greater flexibility allowing you to push flow rates to the limit without compromising the efficiency or quality of your separations
  • Stability up to 1200 bar for ultimate compatibility with UHPLC
    instruments, including Agilent’s 1290 Infinity
  • Maximum resolution: 1.8 μm particles ensure defined separations
and scalability and 3.5/5 μm particles simplify method transfer
  • More reliable compound identification: enhance your MS separations
with high-definition chromatograms using 2.1 mm I.D. columns
  • Wide selection of bonded phases aligned with Agilent’s ZORBAX and Poroshell 120 for easy scalability and method transfer

Agilent BioHPLC Column Selection Guide

Biocolumns are liquid chromatography columns used for the separation of biological compounds such as peptides, proteins, oligonucleotides and other biopolymers.

Biocolumns are specifically designed for biomolecule analysis with larger pore sizes to accommodate the larger molecules. To improve recovery, the column media is designed to minimise non-specific binding of analytes. Separation mechanisms are chosen to either retain biological function so bioactivity is not lost during
analysis or to deliberately denature for primary structure characterisation.

Typically, HPLC has been used to separate biomolecules however, advanced techniques such as UHPLC are becoming a popular choice for their characterisation. As a result, Agilent offers advanced chemistries, developed specifically for the separation of biomolecules using size exclusion, reversed-phase, ion-exchange and affinity functionalities all of which are covered in this selection guide.
