Solid-Phase Extraction (SPE)
Solid-Phase Extraction (SPE) is a sample preparation technique used to isolate and purify and/or concentrate (trace enrich) analytes prior to chromatographic analysis. SPE improves and simplifies separations, increases chromatography column lifetime, and improves detection limits.
High efficiency packing materials, low recovery volumes of sample, sensitivity of separation plus the speed and number steps in the extraction protocol are critical parameters for successful SPE method development.
The range of possible analytes and matrices for SPE is vast and includes Pharmaceuticals or Drugs of Abuse in biological fluids through to contaminants in Foods and Pesticide residues in drinking water samples.
