YMC Analytical HPLC and Preparative HPLC Introduction

YMC-Triart
In order to meet the ever increasing demands of a modern laboratory, YMC has developed a new particle technology. This is based on a multi-layered particle produced via a tightly controlled granulation technology which has been adapted from micro-reactor technology. The revolutionary production technique provides a multi-layer silica-organic hybrid stationary phase, which provides an outstandingly narrow pore size and particle size distribution. This in turn, results in low back pressures and high loadability.

Unlike other hybrid materials, YMC-Triart exhibits a more balanced hydrophobicity making it more rententive than other hybrid materials, potentially simplifiying the separation of "difficult" peaks. The chemical stability of the material combined with the inherent mechanical durability of the particles contributes to long column lifetime.

Triart is available in C18, C8, Phenyl, PFP and HILIC stationary phases.

Actus (Semi-Prep)

Semi-preparative chromatography is the link between analytical and preparative HPLC. Even though the chromatographic systems used for semi-prep LC do not reach the size of preparative LC systems the objective remains the same:

  • Purification and isolation of maximum sample quantity
  • Time and cost savings

With YMC-Actus, a new hardware and packing technology has been applied to these semi-preparative columns to provide a uniform packing density which results in a longer lifetime than conventional semi-preparative columns.

Pro-Family

One of the main challenges in reversed-phase HPLC is the quantitation of ionisable compounds such as drugs and their degradation products. For this purpose, sharp, symmetrical peaks are essential to provide the highest resolution possible leading to reliable integration and quantitation.

The stationary phases of the ProFamily fulfil these demands making them an excellent choice for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. This product line consists of three C-18 phases: YMC-Pack Pro C18 RS (high carbon load), YMC-Pack Pro C18 and Hydrosphere C18 (Aq-type) together with the C8- and C4- phases providing various selectivities for reversed phase analysis.

Fast LC Columns

Nowadays, the need for Ultra Fast LC and Rapid Resolution is still growing due to the continuous demand for high throughput analysis in research & development and quality control.
To satisfy the demand YMC introduced YMC-UltraHT columns to match the latest instrumentation technology for “ultra” high pressure applications e.g. with Agilent 1290 Infinity series.

UltraHT LC columns provide considerable time savings without resorting to ultra high-pressures. These columns achieve ultra fast separations even with conventional HPLC equipment and are fully up- and down- scalable.

Reversed Phase

 

In order to succeed in HPLC, the choice of the optimal selectivity is essential to establish efficient separation conditions. The best suited packing material depends significantly on the separation conditions which should be thoroughly considered.

For this purpose, YMC offers a wide variety of selectivities applicable to HPLC from nano-scale analysis to large scale isolation. Within this range, the world renowned YMC-Pack ODS series and others are described.

Normal Phase

Normal phase chromatography is a powerful tool for the separation of positional isomers that are difficult to separate by reversed phase. Due to a rigid surface, in comparison to the more flexible bonded carbon ligands of reversed phase stationary phases, the analytes are affected by well defined steric interaction with polar groups.

This section gives a comprehensive overview of the stationary phases available from YMC for use in normal phase mode. YMC offers columns packed with non-bonded silica or packed, polar modified silica gel.

Speciality Columns

YMC is dedicated to producing speciality phases which are designed to provide robust, reliable and easily transferable methods for specific applications. For this reason, YMC introduce YMC30 and YMC PAH phases designed to show high recognition for structurally similar polar/non-polar carotenoids and polyaromatic hydrocarbons.

In addition, YMC;s J'sphere columns are a series of packings offering a range of hydrophobicities.

Flash

Traditionally, irregular silica has been successfully used for sample clean-up and fast work-up after chemical synthesis. This type of silica represents a cost-effective media with ever, improving reproducibility for standard applications.

The main advantages of YMC-DispoPackAT flash cartridges include:

  • Compatibility with all common Flash systems e.g. ISCO, Interchim, Agilent, Grace, Buchi
  • Fast and easy installation using Luer/Luer-Lock connections
  • A 25 µm packing material results in a 50% time saving for high-resolution at high flow rates
