Ohio Valley offer a range of fused silica deactivated and unactivated tubing which can be used as a guard column or retention gaps. Retention gaps are used to improve peak shapes for some types of samples, columns, and GC conditions.
Guard Columns consist of 5m of Deactivated Fused Silica supplied with high temperature string. All guard columns are extremely inert, and each is pre-tested. Guard columns are useful in protecting your analytical column from harmful non-volatile contaminants that are commonly found in many environmental and industrial samples. Attaching the guard column to the front of the analytical column using fused silica connectors, or a zero dead volume union, will extend your column lifetime. The non-volatile contaminants are deposited onto the guard column.
The Fused Silica Tubing are longer lengths than our popular 5m guard columns. The tubing is deactivated using a phenyl-methyl deactivation technique that renders the tubing extremely inert. Acceptable for use in transfer lines, and supplied on a cage.
