Phenyl and PFP HPLC Columns from YMC
Phenyl provides a unique selectivity when compared to aliphatic straight chain reversed phases such as C18, C8 or C4. The π-electrons of the phenyl groups can interact with aromatic residues of an analyte molecule in addition to hydrophobic interactions to increase retention relative to non-aromatic species.
PFP is best suited to chromatography of compounds with polar groups such as halogens. It offers high stereo selectivity and excellent (geometric) isomer separation.
