C8 is a very commonly used bonded phase and an excellent alternative to C18 selectivities. Due to its moderate hydrophobicity, retention times tend to be shorter than those for C18 phases. C8 columns are suitable for a wide range of sample types including pharmacueticals and biologicals with a relatively high hydrophobicity.
