Calculator Instructions:
For a particular analysis you carry out routinely in the lab input the following
- Number of analyses - how many time you run this analysis a week
- The number of samples per analysis
- How much revenue each individual sample generates
- The total cost of repeating the analysis (this includes standards, solvent, sample, analyst time)
If you do not have these figures, try these
- Number of analyses per week = 2
- Average number of samples per analyses = 25
- Revenue per sample (£) = 30
- Cost per repeat analysis (£) = 1500
Note:
The more efficient analyst makes fewer mistakes which means less money spent on repeat analysis. They are also more efficient and run more samples, generating more income.
Training is key to becoming an efficient analyst.
