Porvair Scorpion Automated Plate Handler

The Porvair Scorpion Automated Plate Handler is designed to introduce automated microplate handling into laboratory workflows and can be integrated with a range of OEM liquid handling systems. The unit provides automated transfer of microplates, helping to reduce manual handling and improve consistency in routine processes. Custom-designed integration plates maintain precise alignment between the Scorpion and connected instrumentation, ensuring repeatable positioning during plate transfer. With capacity for up to 72 assay plates, the system provides a practical solution for laboratories seeking to increase throughput without extensive infrastructure changes.

The Scorpion supports a wide variety of labware formats, including standard SBS footprint plates, tube racks, and both shallow and deep well plates. It can be configured to load plates from either the left or right side to suit the layout of existing laboratory equipment. Communication with connected systems is achieved through an RS232 interface, supported by proprietary firmware and application drivers to facilitate integration. The platform is designed for compatibility with multiple plasticware manufacturers and can also integrate with automation-ready instruments within the Porvair Sciences range, such as evaporators and plate sealers.
