SiELC Obelisc R is a mixed-mode column based on LiSC (Liquid Separation Cell technology) and is designed for use in traditional reversed-phase applications. LiSC technology is based on a chemical modification of the silica gel pores that creates a liquid separation cell with its own charge characteristics, ionic strength, and hydrophobic properties.
Obelisc R has a stationary phase with cationic groups close to the silica surface separated from anionic groups by a hydrophobic chain. Due to the presence of ionic groups and a long hydrophobic chain, Obelisc R offers additional retention and tuning that is not available with traditional reversed-phase columns. Typical mobile phases used are based acetonitrile, water, and the mass spectrometry compatible buffers ammonium formate (pH 3) and ammonium acetate (pH 5).
Due to the presence of ionic groups and a long hydrophobic chain, Obelisc R provides additional retention and tuning that traditional reversed-phase columns cannot offer
Multiple separation modes available including reversed phase, normal phase, and ion exclusion
Compatible with LC-MS, ELSD, and low UV (<220 nm) with low concentration buffers
Adjustable selectivity in all modes based on organic content, pH, and buffer strength
Obelisc range also includes Obelisc N with normal phase characteristics
Scalable from capillary to prep
Guard columns connect directly to columns and do not require any additional holders
