ExtraTECH Vac-SPME Closures

ExtraTech Vac-SPME closure are compatible with different microextraction technologies. The closures offer a gas-tight seal over a long period of time with commercial 20 mm crimp top headspace vials. These closures enable vacuum assisted microextraction sampling and offer faster extraction of semi-volatiles compared to the standard methodology under atmospheric pressure. They are also ideal for sample storage at atmospheric pressure during long waiting periods e.g., long waiting times on the autosampler tray.

The Vac-SPME closures come in two versions; one designed for use with SPME fibers, and one designed for use with high capacity SPME Arrows. Each closure has one aperture on the top that can tightly accommodate a plug septum through which air-evacuation and SPME operations take place. The two external grooves on each closure are used to accommodate two types of black Viton O-rings used to seal the vial mouth and neck. The basic starter kit that contains 10 Vac-SPME Fiber closures and their O-rings or the full starter kit that additionally includes 10 plug septa (fibre kit) or 10 half-hole cylindrical septa (arrow kit).

We also supply a wide range of crimp top headspace vials and closures.

  • Extraction times are typically halved when sampling under vacuum
  • The total analysis time is reduced, ensuring high sample throughput in analytical laboratories
  • The use of elevated temperatures is not necessary to achieve high sensitivity
  • Sample degradation is avoided, and energy consumption is minimized
  • Sampling under vacuum increases the number of extracted semi-volatiles, while the extraction of volatiles is not affected
  • Repeatability and sensitivity for semi-volatiles are improved
  • Easy to use and implement in any routine laboratory
  • Reusable and easily handled by any autosampler
  • The use of extra single-use magnetic caps is excluded, reducing laboratory costs and waste
  • The closures are also ideal for sample storage at atmospheric pressure during long waiting periods e.g., on the autosampler tray
  • Products and methods align with the principles of green sample preparation
